Spread the ****

One night I happened to be channel surfing looking for the next sci-fi, action, horror thriller when I happened upon PBS's broadcast of the BBC's “House of Cards.” I put down the remote for a good 4 hours because what I was experiencing was something truly special. “House of Cards”, of course, does not have aliens or chainsaw wielding maniacs. “HOC”'s ******* is instead someone frightfully believable. Thanks to Ian Richardson's amazing performance, one can believe such a ******* exists and can become PM or President. I won't beat the Shakespeare comparison ***** (other users have done so and you can read their comments) but Mrs. Urquhart could easily hold her own in a series focused solely on her. Indeed, all of the characters are well-written and not dumbed-down to the viewer. If only American TV had the guts to produce something like “House of Cards” and let it end instead of dragging it on forever like the American version of “Queer as Folk.” That aside, Dobbs and Davis have written a nice tidy political thriller which made me hunt down the DVD years after I saw the TV showing and made me recommend the trilogy to all my friends. I say give “House of Cards” and the sequels a try. Your remote and your intellect will thank you for it.

Zappulla had some liberty in the on-set residence kitchen, too. The **** Washington kitchen is “a very 1980s, utilitarian kitchen with oak cabinets. The “House of Cards” kitchen is more modern with white cabinets and stainless steel appliances. A grill was built into the middle of the island, just so Claire could fry an egg in one scene.

So, ’fess up: Who else binged on all of season two of House of Cards on Netflix this past weekend? Once I started, I couldn’t stop. Don’t worry; you won’t find any spoiler alerts here. I will only say a theme of ruthless pragmatism continues through the entire season. As I watched all of the merciless machinations of Frank and Claire Underwood and their adversaries, I also took careful notice of the subdued sets and fashion choices — every one was made with the same kind of cunning. If you’ve got your own ***** political plot brewing, make sure you’ve got a window perch where you can share a smoke with your partner in crime, and follow these tips.

Devious, calculating, manipulative, yep, that would be the Underwoods. In the show, their schemes take place in various locations throughout Washington D.C. and in their townhome. House of Cards uses shots of Washington D.C. in the opening credits but the show itself is filmed in various locations throughout Baltimore, Maryland and on a sound stage in Joppa, Maryland.

Frank Underwood is back, with blood on his hands and on demand. Season 3 of Netflix’s hit series House of Cards drops today. As we clear our schedules and lay in wait for the next binge of dastardly politico deeds, the Underwoods are busy moving into their *** digs on Pennsylvania Avenue. It’s the ******* time to take stock of the Georgetown townhouse that led them there. The confident and refined décor may just prompt you to do some plotting of your own—design wise, of course.

There are some pieces in the **** White House that only exist there, like lamps and furnishings in the main entry hall. When you’re filming a show about the White House, and something similar costs $125,000, you have to find a way to make do with a copy.

When President Francis Underwood wants to orchestrate political intrigue – or discuss marital problems – with ***** Lady Claire Underwood in the sitting room between their separate White House bedrooms, the action isn’t at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., in the nation’s Capital, but rather in a nondescript warehouse in Joppa.

Millions of dollars have been spent locally – in Harford County and in Maryland – to create a *** White House, buying furniture, paint, carpet, decorative pieces, art, food, wood, construction equipment. You name it, they use it on the set.

Oh goody – this is the ******* place to ask this question: Is it just my tv’s, or does anyone else think the indoor scenes – especially in their house – are very dark? As in, poorly lit? I can’t figure out if there’s something wrong with my televisions, the equipment we’re streaming through. or if it is intentional. And yes Gina – I noticed the cuff links! LOL!
